I surprised my parents and went back home to Izmir, on saturday(the saturday before new years) and I taped them seeing me on the street in Alsancak. It was so hillarious! I love doing surprises and making the people i love happy! So i was so excited about this surprise trip to hometown. I stayed in Izmir till tuesday, the 30th and took the plane back to Istanbul on the night of 30th. I came back just because I had classes on wednesday, the 31st. But as soon as I landed on Atatürk Airport, I received a call from Irem, telling me that there was no school tomorrow, so we didn't have communication together. It was a bomb, because i got my ticket just not to skip my classes on wednesday. But there is a saying in Turkish, "Hayırlısı Buymuş!", maybe something bad was gonna happen if I have stayed in Izmir.
The new years party was great. We were at a place with all my close friends. It actually was the first time that I was spending my time outside in the new years eve. What we usually do is, having a house party in a friend's house with 30 people and so. So it was quite an experience this year..
The idea of being in 2009 is so weird, I still feel like we are in 2006.
and next year is going to be a whole new DECADE 2010!

What a "bummer" flying back here and finding you could have stayed at home. But still it looks like you had a good time here with friends so in a sense you had the best of both worlds. I wonder why you feel you are stuck in 2006 - obviously something significant happened for you in that year.
